"2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968)
A simian suit looks out over various production design elements from Kubrick's most enduring opus, "2001: A Space Odyssey." Film critics participating in the recent Sight & Sound poll of the best films of all time ranked it at #6, while directors polled ranked it at #2. One of said critics was Roger Ebert, who has said, "'2001: A Space Odyssey' is a stand-alone monument, a great visionary leap, unsurpassed in its vision of man and the universe. It was a statement that came at a time which now looks something like the peak of humanity’s technological optimism." Profoundly observed.
