14. "Cars" (John Lasseter, 2006)
The studio’s seventh endeavor was met with an uncharacteristically blasé critical reception in the summer of 2006. But even though Cars (honcho John Lassseter’s third directorial effort at Pixar) is fairly low on this list, it's hard not to be impressed by its dedication to an unexpected message. Perhaps the gloss on the film was too bright to allow it any breathing room, but the idea of reminding children (and perhaps many adults) of America’s fading industrial landscape could be the studio’s most relevant to date. — Kristopher Tapley
