There is one character that Harrison Ford plays better than any other: Harrison Ford. And he plays it as well in “Blade Runner” as just about anywhere else. That assessment is in no way meant to detract from his talent. Quite the opposite, in fact. Ford has the quality that so many of cinema's icons did, the ability to bring almost all of himself into his roles. There is a Harrison Fordness to Harrison Ford that is impossible to look away from. But there is a particular vulnerability in his “Blade Runner” performance that is truly breathtaking. Even when he is at his most dominant (see the bedroom scenes with Sean Young) there is an element of the lost soul, desperate for meaning, for connection and quite pointedly for love that is as powerful as anything I’ve ever seen from the actor.
