The 10 most underrated 'Saturday Night Live' cast members of all time
You won't find Tina Fey, Eddie Murphy, Bill Murray or Adam Sandler on this list
9. Norm McDonald
Seasons: 1993-1998
Best known for: Burt Reynolds, Bob Dole, "Weekend Update" anchor
Overshadowed by: Mike Myers, Adam Sandler, Chris Farley
Why: It's tempting to say that McDonald's run on "Weekend Update" was too ahead of its time to ever truly connect with a wide audience. Well, a decade and a half later, what he brought to that desk still might be too odd to ever belong on a show that seeks as wide an audience as "SNL" does. Still, given how tame the show can often be, McDonald brought an air of danger to everything he did, using the live forum to constantly bait the audience into thinking something subversive might happen at any moment. He might have been Don Ohlmeyer's worst enemy, thanks to the slew of jokes McDonald made from the "Update" desk at the expense of the NBC executive's friend O.J. Simpson. But for those looking for an extra dose of unpredictability in "SNL", McDonald still stands as a titan, even to this day.
