We knew that John Hillcoat, director of "The Proposition" and "The Road," was working on a new film starring Shia Labeouf, Tom Hardy, and more, and that it was set in the days of Prohibition and dealt with bootlegging, but until that first trailer hit, we didn't know that it would be fun. That's a new attitude for Hillcoat, whose striking earlier work is also often dour to the point of being hard to take. Based on a true story, this looks like a great ride and a collision of a lot of interesting young talent, and we hope it lives up to its promise.
