The 10 Greatest Super Bowl halftime shows of all time
Beyonce, Prince, Michael Jackson, Madonna, and more
8. Michael Jackson, Super Bowl XXVII, (1993)
The half-time was still evolving from its Up With People/marching band halftimes when the King of Pop mesmerized the Rose Bowl. After appearing out of nowhere mid-field, he spends a good 2 minutes just staring at the crowd before he explodes into kinetic motion and doesn’t stop. Before long, he's moon walking during “Billie Jean,” watching huge black and white hands come across the field during “Black & White,” and dodging fire pots. The first half is full-on brilliant. It’s during the second half when he gets all touchy-feely with the well-meaning, but sub-par “Heal The World” that it loses its luster. But nothing can take away from the brilliance of the first half that still causes goosebumps.
