6. "Apocalypse Now" (Francis Ford Coppola, 1979)

Francis Ford Coppola's near-insanity-inducing spin on Joseph Conrad was so far ahead of its time for reflecting a dark, haunting nightmare of a war just a few years old in 1979. Vittorio Storaro's photography is some of the best of the medium as far as I'm concerned.
