8. "12 Angry Men" (Sidney Lumet, 1957)

Sidney Lumet got it done for 50 years without batting an eye. He was one of the most efficient storytellers of the medium, along with such luminaries as Billy Wilder and Elia Kazan, but when he first jumped onto the feature filmmaking scene, he gave us something pristine. It was life bursting off that screen, and all the drama that comes with it.
