NBC and zombies rise, 'Homeland' crashes the Emmys, Zucker returns and more
Jeff Zucker takes over CNN
A memorable, weird year in TV news (the strangest moment probably involved Karl Rove's antics on Fox News on election night) grew even more colorful with CNN's hiring of Zucker — the man who wrecked NBC in primetime and latenight even as he kept being promoted further and further up the corporate ladder to take over the flagging news channel. Zucker has good news experience as a former wunderkind producer at "Today" (his most recent job was producing his old pal Katie Couric's talk show), so this should be a better fit for him than having to pick hit sitcoms and dramas. And if his tenure isn't a success, then we can just make more jokes about super-sizing, "Emeril" and "The Jay Leno Show."
