U.S. opening: June 29
Comparables: "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" (2009) - $150 million
Prediction: $125 million
Lowdown: There may be less kid-friendly special effects in "Retaliation," but the addition of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Bruce Willis should help make up for less eye candy. Additionally, the pre-July 4th weekend gives it a head start on "Amazing Spider-Man." There is no reason with the Rock, Willis and franchise equity that "Retaliation" can't gross just under its predecessor.
