'Saturday Night Live' cast power rankings
We analyze the current cast’s overall importance to the show
6. Taran Killam
There are weeks when it seems like “SNL” is hitching itself to the Taran Killam train and heading into the future. Then there are weeks where he’s absolutely nowhere to be seen. Killam can do “smarmy eloquent guy” in his sleep, and that’s often how the show deploys him. But there’s a much more interesting, much deeply weirder streak in his comedy that propelled not only obviously weird material such as “The Legend of Mokiki and the Sloppy Swish” but also “B108FM,” which takes a simple premise but amplifies it with high energy and a skewed perspective. Throw in his often dead- on impressions (including his best, Brad Pitt), and here’s a guy who could easily be number one in the rankings one day. He’s just not there yet.
