'Saturday Night Live' cast power rankings
We analyze the current cast’s overall importance to the show
5. Kate McKinnon
Too high? Probably. But when the show unleashes McKinnon’s true potential, the results are often shockingly funny. It seemed in the first month of the season that “SNL” was simply going to use her the same way it did Kristen Wiig. Not only is McKinnon a triple-threat talent, she also has a propensity to play characters as well as caricatures. As the season moved on, many of the other female cast members got their chance to shine, which pushed McKinnon slightly out of focus for a while. But she’s had a great Spring (her Olya Povlatsky appearance alone merits this slot), and looks to be ready to make The Leap in the near future.
