Quick fixes for the fall's worst new TV Shows
Can 'Mom,' 'Dads,' and 'We Are Men' be saved?
Biggest Flaw: It plays more like a cop show parody than like an actual cop show.
Our Helpful Solution: The finished version of the pilot cut out some of the most cliched lines of dialogue where Blair Underwood's boss tells him there are rules and procedures to follow, but the whole show is still too overheated and dependent on the idea of Ironside as a maverick who plays by his own rules. Either "Ironside" needs to fully embrace its silliness and turn into a stealth Adult Swim show, or it needs to dial back on the attitude and just show what makes Ironside a good cop beyond his love of flouting convention. Or they could just add Heather Locklear as a sexy wheelchair technician.
