Please let these movie franchises die a peaceful death
Do we really want more 'Terminator,' 'G.I. Joe' or 'Die Hard' movies?
Movies: "Die Hard" (1988), "Die Hard 2: Die Harder" (1990), "Die Hard With a Vengeance" (1995), "Live Free or Die Hard" (2007), "A Good Day to Die Hard" (2013)
Upcoming movies: As awful as it was, "A Good Day to Die Hard" made over $300 million worldwide, with most of that coming from overseas. Although there have only been rumblings about "Die Hard 6" from a lone, unconfirmed screenwriter on Twitter, it's probably inevitable.
Why: The first two sequels, while not bad, failed to capture the freshness and unexpected smarts of the original, and the subsequent entries are significantly less satisfying. Bruce Willis looked liked he couldn't care less in 2013 "A Good Day," by far the worst film in the series, and he's not likely to feel any different about future installments. It's time for John McClane to ride off into the sunset.
