Please let these movie franchises die a peaceful death
Do we really want more 'Terminator,' 'G.I. Joe' or 'Die Hard' movies?
Movies: "Spy Kids" (2001), "Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams" (2002), "Spy Kids 3D: Game Over" (2003), "Spy Kids: All the Time in the World" (2011)
Upcoming Movies: "Spy Kids 5" was in early development two years ago, but nobody has mentioned it recently. Cross fingers.
Why: An initially cute idea that's been driven into the ground, Robert Rodriguez's "Spy Kids" films are cheap, simple moneymakers which allow the prolific director, his family and friends to goof around with green screen technology. The fourth film grossed just $38 million domestically, compared to the $111 million earned by "Spy Kids 3D" eight years earlier. Now that original kids Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara are all grown up, maybe it's time for this series to go to bed.
