Hal David
Hal David was one of the best lyricists of the 20th century; other than John Lennon and Paul McCartney, he and his songwriting partner Burt Bacharach were the preeminent purveyors of pop song craft in the ‘60s. He died of a stroke on Sept. 1 at age 91.
