Lowdown: The history of renowned Asian auteurs making the move to the States is a spotty one: for every Ang Lee, there's a Wong Kar-wai. We have no idea yet on what side of the fence Korean genre maven Park Chan-wook will land with his first English-language feature, but the signs are all promising. The premise – after losing her father, a teenaged girl becomes increasingly obsessed with her charismatic but sinister uncle – is equal parts Hitchcock and American gothic, but appears to allow ample room for Park's own macabre leanings. The top-tier cast includes Mia Wasikowska, Matthew Goode, Jacki Weaver and, continuing her history of unexpected auteur collaborations, Nicole Kidman. The script, meanwhile, throws a throughly unexpected name into the mix: it's by “Prison Break” star Wentworth Miller.
