4. 'Billie Jean' (1983)
As if if weren’t memorable enough for tiles that lit up as a pink-shirted/red-bow-tied Jackson danced on them, the Steve Barron-directed “Billie Jean” forever knocked down any color barrier for black artists on MTV. The music channel denied that Jackson’s label had the threaten to pull all its videos if MTV didn’t play “Billie Jean,” the fact remains that until “Billie Jean,” only a handful of black artists had seen their clips given minimal play on MTV.
