5. "A Few Good Men" (1992)

The role: Lt. (and lawyer) Daniel Kaffee

Nominated for: Golden Globe (Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama), MTV Movie Award (Best Male Performance, Most Desirable Male)

Won: nothing

Thoughts: Cruise is, yet again, often overlooked for his work in Rob Reiner's 1992 hit "A Few Good Men" (from a script by Aaron Sorkin). Jack Nicholson's scenery chewing got most of the attention, but Cruise navigated the real story of the film with skill and ease: the retribution of a young lawyer who discovers his true calling and his role in a legal legacy.
