10. "Mars Attacks!" (Production Designer: Wynn Thomas)

"Mars Attacks!" was bats***. We all know that. But from a design standpoint, it's certainly an oddity and intriguing. The film was based on a series of 1960s trading cards and Burton wanted to incorporate that look into Wynn Thomas's art direction. It's kind of an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink venture with the right dose of schlock. Two years after making a biopic of Ed Wood, Burton made his own "Ed Wood movie."
