Based on the J.R.R. Tolkien book, "The Hobbit" has been split into three theatrical features, with "The Unexpected Journey" hitting theaters this December. "The Desolation of Smaug" follows next December, with "There and Back Again" concluding the trilogy Summer, 2014.
