This isn't a slam on Pharoah so much as a plea to "SNL" to either use employ his strengths or set him free in order to succeed. The show has never been quite sure how to use Pharaoh during his brief time on the show, leading to many cries of "Free Jay Pharoah" in our weekly recaps. But the show hid Fred Armisen's Obama throughout most of last season, meaning the time is ripe for a regime change within the show. If "SNL" thinks this is out of the question, we aren't sure what Pharaoh's place is within the show as a whole. Plenty of talented comedians find themselves stranded within Studio 8H. It would be no shame if Pharaoh were the latest in that illustrious group. But here's hoping there's a chance that he can excel this season.
