15 21st century movies that shouldn't be remade
What new classics have we declared off-limits?
Kill Bill (2003 and 2004)
Why someone would want to remake it: A revenge minded assassin is left for dead and believes the baby that she was close to giving birth to has been killed as well. She spends years training to take down her former colleagues one by one. Once that's accomplished she'll go after the ringleader responsible for it all. In this case, the "Bill" in question. Sounds like a great pitch for a movie no matter what the decade.
Why they shouldn't: There are directors and there are auteurs. Quentin Tarantino is a cinematic auteur. Like Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese and (to an extent) Steven Spielberg, these are filmmakers whose films cannot be viewed without a moviegoer feeling the deft hand of an artist at work. To even consider remaking any of their pictures (even the failures) wouldn't just be blasphemy to film historians, critics and the mainstream media, but likely moviegoers as well (OK, well you'd hope it would be).
