Superbad (2007)

Superbad (2007)

Why someone would want to remake it: A teen comedy about three outsiders/geeks/nerds (pick your prejorative term) who crash parties, attempt to lose their virginity, engage local law enforcement and come to terms with heading to different colleges in the fall all in one night?  Assuming kids in the future still go to high school that's probably a formula that will work on the big screen for quite a long time.

Why they shouldn't:
You can play with the formula, but if it's a true classic like "Superbad" you shouldn't try to remake it. There's a reason no one has remade John Hughes' films from the 80's or teen classics such as "Clueless" from the 90's. The originals still resonate with younger generations.  Chances are you remake it and teenagers will smell a shameless attempt at box office extortion a mile away.
