Yes, it's entirely appropriate to show a little skin on the red carpet. It is perhaps less appropriate to wear what appears to be an old prison uniform you've gussied up for the occasion. FYI, horizontal stripes will make anyone look fat. Looking like a deranged M.C. Escher drawing, even worse.
