2013 Emmy Nominations Winners and Losers
Justin Timberlake and Louis C.K. shine as 'New Girl' is snubbed
Winner and Loser: Netflix
You can't discount the coup Netflix pulled off this year. The nine Emmy nominations for "House of Cards" including outstanding drama series, lead actor (Kevin Spacey), lead actress (Robin Wright) and direction (David Fincher) are remarkable for the streaming service's first real on demand series and it demonstrates the TV Academy's willingness to embrace new content services. Still, Spacey, Fincher, Wright are all very well known and respected names in the Hollywood community. At the least, most expected Spacey to earn a nod. What wasn't so good for Netflix was "Arrested Development" only earning three nominations including lead actor in a comedy (Jason Bateman), editing and music composition. Considering "Arrested" won outstanding comedy series in 2004 and three other Emmys for directing and writing that has to be just a tad disappointing to the folks at Netflix.
