Emmy Nomination Preview 2013 - Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy
It took seven nominees to fill this category last year
Julia Louis-Dreyfus of 'Veep'
Julia Louis-Dreyfus, "Veep"
Nomination Status: Last year's winner will be back.
In Her Favor: All Julia Louis-Dreyfus does is get nominated for and win Emmys. Last year's win for "Veep" was her third win for her third different show and I think her overall nomination total is up to 13? I didn't love the way the second season of "Veep" began, but after a couple bumpy episodes, it's been getting better and better. Things may be getting rougher for VP Selina Meyer, but that just means that the Armando Iannucci dialogue has become profanely frustrated as opposed to... well... whatever other shades of awesome profanity he wants his characters to spew. The season's penultimate episode, with the glass door smashing and the anti-depressants is probably her submission episode, unless the previous week's episode with the TV interview was.
Working Against Her: Interestingly, Julia Louis-Dreyfus may have one Emmy for each of three shows, but she hasn't won a second Emmy for any of them. I'm not sure if that's going to change, but she'll be in the hunt at the very least.
