Emmy Nomination Preview 2012 - Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama
Claire Danes threatens Julianna Margulies and 'Mad' women lurk
Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama
Last Year's Nominees:
Julianna Margulies, "The Good Wife"
Kathy Bates, "Harry's Law"
Connie Britton, "Friday Night Lights"
Mireille Enos, "The Killing"
Mariska Hargitay, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit"
Elisabeth Moss, "Mad Men"
Attrition: The only nominee definitely out of the field is Connie Britton for "Friday Night Lights." You'd think that Kathy Bates would have a hard time returning, but you'd also have predicted her having a hard time being there in the first place. With "Homeland" star Claire Danes as an iron-clad lock to join the field and a nearly iron-clad lock to win, she's almost an incumbent she's so inevitable. But there are still enough questions involving Hargitay and Enos to potentially add some intrigue, especially with Glenn Close returning to eligibility after a year away.
