10 cases of Hollywood making the same movie twice - at the same time
'Mirror Mirror' and 'Snow White and the Huntsman' only the latest redundant cinematic pair
'Babe' vs. 'Gordy'
"Gordy" (Miramax) - May 12, 1995
Global box office: $3.9 million
"Babe" (Universal Pictures) - Aug. 4, 1995
Global box office: $254 million
The result: While the tagline for "Gordy" may have been "The Little Pig That Hit It Big!", the film itself failed to live up to that promise, suffering dismal reviews and a miniscule gross at the U.S. box-office. The technically-superior "Babe", on the other hand, became a worldwide commercial smash and critical darling only a few months later, racking up a whopping seven Oscar nominations and paving the way for a sequel (albeit a commercially-disastrous one) three years later.
