Directors and actors who need to work together again
We'd love to see these collaborations once more, please
Michel Gondry and Jim Carrey
Previous collaboration: "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (2004)
Why Gondry should: There was something about this combination that seemed to work for Gondry where others with comedians like Seth Rogen and, to a lesser extent, Jack Black have not. It felt inspired on the same level his work with Gael García Bernal in "The Science of Sleep" did. If the director doesn't happen to get his groove back with "Mood Indigo," maybe it would be worth revisiting the magic that helped land Charlie Kaufman an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
Why Carrey should: Let's be honest. "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" was one of few bright spots in Carrey's career over the last decade. Sure, he's made money, he's had a couple quality blips (i.e. "I Love You Philip Morris"), but he hasn't had these kinds of opportunities to stretch. All the attention went to Oscar nominee Kate Winslet that year but Gondry really seemed to pull something out of the actor.
