Directors and actors who need to work together again
We'd love to see these collaborations once more, please
David Fincher and Sigourney Weaver
Previous collaboration: "Alien 3" (1992)
Why Fincher should: After numerous Oscar nominations, adoration from critics and box office blockbusters, Fincher has long washed the sour taste of working on the third "Alien" film from his mouth. Studio interference made the project more difficult than it should have been with both Weaver and Fincher battling to keep things as "creative" as possible. Considering his success with strong female heroines in the years since ("Panic Room," "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and numerous characters in "The Social Network" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"), isn't it time to try to get something with Weaver done right?
Why Weaver should: After James Cameron's "Avatar" reinvigorated her career (a well-timed reunion), Weaver has cashed in on a number of commercial flops ("Abduction," "Red Lights," "The Cold Light of Day") that have her nowhere near landing a much-deserved Oscar. (Glenn Close knows the feeling.) The three-time nominee even struck out with the hyped mini-series "Political Animals." And certainly, at this point, would anyone actually say "no" to working with David Fincher?
