Directors and actors who need to work together again
We'd love to see these collaborations once more, please
Darren Aronofsky and Ellen Burstyn
Previous collaborations: "Requiem for a Dream" (2000); "The Fountain" (2006)
Why Aronofsky should: When he has a female character in mind Aronofsky has proven himself adept at fleshing them out. Even if it feels more metaphorical in nature, there is always a character there much more than an essence. And with the right material, Burstyn has always dazzled. Another outing and we should be so lucky.
Why Burstyn should: She's been biding her time lately, maybe taking it a bit easy. So the opportunity is ripe for her to capitalize on something she could really sink her teeth into. Aronofsky would surely deliver nothing less, just as he did when he guided her to an Oscar nod over a decade ago. And while seeing her pop up in "The Fountain" was nice, I'd like to see something more substantial.
