'The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!' (1988)

Why it's so great: Post-"Airplane!," Jim Abrahams and the Zucker Brothers resurrected their failed TV cop spoof "Police Squad!" and turned it into this hilarious classic comedy. It was later followed by one pretty funny sequel and one kind-of amusing threequel, all co-starring a pre-"Trial of the Century" O.J. Simpson.

Remake-o-meter says: This is Leslie Nielsen's thing, man. Don't touch it. Besides, since the mid-'90s, these types of spoof films have devolved into unwatchable garbage like "Meet the Spartans" and "Epic Movie", meaning a "Naked Gun" remake could potentially fall into the same lamentable category . Please disperse...there's nothing for you to see here...
