Comic-Con 2013 Big Questions: 'Catching Fire,' Dan Harmon, 'Ender's Game'
Will the "Ender's Game"/Orson Scott Card protests actually make Comic-Con political?
It's going to be a long four months for the Summit Entertainment publicity team. The studio has a movie they appear to be very happy with, Gavin Hood's "Ender's Game," ready for audiences on Nov. 1. The problem is the author of the original novel it's based on, Orson Scott Card, is something of a notorious homophobe. LGBT fan organization Geeks OUT is already organizing a movement against the movie because of Card's continuing comments against gay marriage. Card released something of a backhanded "the point is moot" statement on Monday, but you can bet the cast won't be able to avoid the issue with the press or possibly from fan questions. The bigger question is whether Geeks OUT will stage a protest during or before the panel. If so, it might be the most high profile protest the con has ever seen.
