First Appearance: Marvel Super-Heroes (1st series) #18 (January 1969)
Abilities: Vance has the power of psychokinesis and uses it in the form of concussive blasts. He also has a future version of Captain America's shield, but that's a complicated story we don't have the word count for.

Lowdown: A NASA astronaut who was suspended in hibernation for 1,000 a years, he becomes a hero in the 31st Century and helps form the original team.  At some point, he becomes displaced in time and returns to the 21st Century where Star-Lord discovers him.  Recruited for the "current" Guardians team, his difficult backstory makes him an easy member for Marvel to cut from the movie roster.
