Biggest winners and losers of 2013: Beyonce, Jennifer Lawrence, 'Breaking Bad' and more
WINNER: Mark Burnett
What Went Right in 2013: "The Voice" continued to be NBC's saving grace and won the Reality Competition Emmy. "Survivor" continued to be a reality gold standard. "Shark Tank" continued to be a hit for ABC and won the TCA Award for reality. So that's all pretty good. But what really put Mark Burnett over the top in 2013 was the absurdly strong ratings for History's "The Bible," a 10-part miniseries that premiered to over 13 million viewers in March and was still averaging nearly 12 million by its finale, making it a major triumph for the producer and wife Roma Downey.
What's Ahead in 2014: After the success of "The Bible," Burnett jumped ship to take the sequel, "A.D.," to NBC, where he's also developing a miniseries project about the Mayflower. And then Burnett also has follow-up seasons for all of those reality hits.
