Alonzo Harris - 'Training Day'
Denzel Washington is one of cinema's all-time nice guys, so when he occasionally plays bad, as he does in "Training Day," he does so with a seductive swagger that makes you want to root for him anyway. Harris is one of the baddest bad cops in movie history, playing the L.A. criminal underworld like a chess game in order to fatten his wallet and consolidate his power -- until he gets in over his head. Seen through the eyes of an idealistic young cop (Ethan Hawke), Washington's Harris comes off as an attractively dangerous Mr. Cool whose flashy demeanor is matched only by his cold blooded brutality. It was enough for Washington two walk away with his second Oscar.
