Key players: Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Jon Hamm, Chris O'Dowd

Why it's great: Probably more than any other genre, comedies often provide actors the spotlight they need to show their true talents. Not only was Paul Feig's "Bridesmaids" smash a showcase for eventual best supporting actress nominee Melissa McCarthy, but Kristen Wiig's hilariously relatable unemployed baker hit a nerve with audiences looking to root for an underdog heroine.  Add to the mix Rose Byrne's award worthy turn as the new best friend you love to hate and superb bit turns from Matt Lucas, Ellie Kemper, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Rebel Wilson, Jon Hamm and Chris O'Dowd and you've fashioned together a comedy that will endure for decades.  Oh, and did we mention the incredible Maya Rudolph taking a bullet as the "straight woman" for everyone's comic foils?
