Best and worst of the 2014 Golden Globes
Amy Adams, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey and Bryan Cranston all had a good night
Worst - Diane Keaton singing the Girl Scout song
Diane Keaton's acceptance speech/tribute to Woody Allen, since the director didn't show up to receive his Cecil B. DeMille Award... not that he ever shows up at award shows. Keaton started strong, but lost her focus several minutes in. She's always been a strange bird, so a bit of eccentricity is always expected and welcome, but praising a man for his treatment of women in films is a stretch given his rather sordid personal history. And ending by singing the Make New Friends song —known to Girl Scouts everywhere—just seemed a step too far. One person the tribute definitely didn't sit well with? Allen's estranged son, Ronan Farrow, who tweeted, "Missed the Woody Allen tribute - did they put the part where a woman publicly confirmed he molested her at age 7 before or after Annie Hall?"
- Melinda Newman
