Best and Worst of the 2013 Independent Spirit Awards
Worst: 'Moonrise Kingdom' shut out
Along with "Perks of Being a Wallflower," another disappointing player this awards season is Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom." Focus Features barely missed out on a best picture nomination for the indie box office hit and instead will find one of Anderson's best films (likely) going home without a statue of any kind Sunday night. You'd think Anderson, a previous best director winner for "Rushmore," would find some solace with his indie brothers and sisters, right? Wrong. "Kingdom" was nominated in five categories and, sadly, lost every one. Needless to say, Focus Features is glad this awards season is almost a memory.
