"Downton Abbey" surprised viewers at home and the entire Shrine Auditorium audience by winning best ensemble for a drama series over presumed favorites "Homeland," "Boardwalk Empire," "Mad Men" and "Breaking Bad." It was a huge win for the PBS import and brought some excitement to what had been up, until that point, a predictable and boring awards show.
