Best: Dan Harmon returns to "Community" — and to Comic-Con
After a year off while Moses Port and David Guarascio were running the creation he'd been fired from, Harmon made a successful return to the convention center (along with stars Jim Rash, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Ken Jeong, Danny Pudi and Gillian Jacobs) that had a packed Hall H on loud and happy. The "Community" panel was a mix of self-aggrandizement (Harmon came out in an Iron Man costume and did a televangelist rap before the actors came out) and self-effacement (Harmon repeatedly called himself "a creepy jerk" and apologized again for being so harsh in his earlier comments about the Port/Guarascio season). Here, he was able to discuss season 4 in ways that were critical without sounding mean, and also admitted to ways that the show went awry under his watch in season 3. Given Harmon's gift for very public self-sabotage, putting him on stage in front of a room this big could have been a catastrophe, but instead it was a very promising start to the hype for season 5 (whenever it premieres), and Harmon's return was supported by one of the most quick-witted, fan-friendly ensembles to visit the Con each year.
