BEST: 'Upstream Color'

BEST: 'Upstream Color'

Director: Shane Carruth
Stars: Amy Seimetz, Shane Carruth
Lowdown: Shane Carruth stunned film-watchers with "Primer" in 2004, and was back in 2013 with gorgeous "Upstream Color," which is as gorgeous as it is quixotic. As the end credits role, the film inspires an immediate need for a re-watch, with the mystery of a fantastical trauma breathing out a stunning love story and strong, vulnerable performances from the director and Seimetz. "Upstream Color" is far more pearls than swine, despite a strong showing from the literal latter.
