So it was a comedy all along? Oh. We kid. NBC's "Smash" was always a musical-drama, just as "Glee" has always been a musical-thingamajig and therefore, finding "Smash" in the musical-comedy series category isn't a surprise. Finding it in the nomination field over shows "Parks and Recreation," "Louie," "30 Rock," "Veep" and "New Girl"? Well, that was a bit more surprising. On the bright side, this will let NBC promote the second season of "Smash" as a Golden Globe nominee for Outstanding Series, while also promoting it as entirely overhauled from the first season.
