Isn't Robert Downey Jr. a big enough star to make this happen?  I hope "Iron Man 3" makes a billion dollars worldwide so that Shane Black and Downey have enough "f you" clout to make anything they want, and I hope Harry and Gay Perry have another mystery to solve.  The chemistry between Val Kilmer and Downey in this was amazing, and it's got such a great, wicked dark sense of humor that I have to think you could tell any story involving them and it would be outrageous.
