2014 Best Screenplay Oscar Contenders
This year's field of originals and adaptations is incredibly dense
"Dallas Buyers Club" - Craig Borten, Melisa Wallack (Original Screenplay)
Pros: The story behind the story of "Dallas Buyers Club" is interesting, stretching back to a lengthy interview in 1992 and the journey to adapting a man's life to the screen (and all the challenges that come with it). A film that could rally its share of passion votes could find residual love in areas like Best Original Screenplay so watch out.
Cons: Like with many other contenders, the competition for space is worth noting. This indie is surrounded by heavy-hitting Best Picture players "Gravity" and "Saving Mr. Banks" and shares similar turf as more dominant "Blue Jasmine," "Inside Llewyn Davis" and "Nebraska."
