2014 BAFTA Award predictions
'Gravity,' '12 Years a Slave,' 'Philomena'... what will the Brits go for?
Gregory Ellwood and Guy Lodge predict: Chiwetel Ejiofor, "12 Years a Slave"
Kristopher Tapley predicts: Leonardo DiCaprio, "The Wolf of Wall Street"
Lowdown: With Oscar frontrunner Matthew McConaughey surprisingly absent from the category, the door is open for another candidate to gain some momentum. The safe bet is Ejiofor, a respected local talent doing granite-solid work in one of the Best Film frontrunners. But Kris is right to note that DiCaprio has been picking up steam of late -- is BAFTA the place for him to break through?
