Will 'Newsroom' and 'Girls' and other fresh shows crack the HFPA fields?
Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical

Zooey Deschanel, "New Girl"
Strong Candidates:
Tina Fey, "30 Rock"
Amy Poehler, "Parks and Recreation"
Dakota Johnson, "Ben and Kate"

Reba McEntire, "Malibu Country"
Dark Horses:

Katharine McPhee or Megan Hilty, "Smash"
Lowdown: Laura Dern won here last year in an upset, but "Englightened" didn't air in 2012, so there's room for a lot of new blood. Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Lena Dunham are iron-clad locks and Mindy Kaling seems like the kind of actress Globe voters ought to like. A fun option would be Dakota Johnson, who was Miss Golden Globes in 2006 and is also terrific on "Ben and Kate." With the proper push, FOX could easily get that nomination, but I don't know if they made that push, or if they decided to coast on promoting Zooey Deschanel, who almost certainly would have won last year if not for Dern. Watch out for Kristen Bell if Globes voters adore "House of Lies." And never forget that Reba McEntire was nominated for a Golden Globe for "Reba." So... Who knows?
