Pro: Emily Blunt may be the marquee name in Lynn Shelton's Sundance-rooted character comedy – and very good she is in it too – but it's indie stalwart DeWitt who got the most glowing critical notices for her acerbic turn as Blunt's broody lesbian sister. Four years after making a mark (but missing the Oscar cut) in “Rachel Getting Married,” actor's actor DeWitt is finally having a breakout year: she also has a potential supporting play coming up in “Promised Land.” And hey, “The Watch” wasn't her fault, and it raised her mainstream profile.

Con: Does anyone really remember the movie? It's a “nice little film” that critics supported on its release, but are unlikely to make a surge for at the year's end. Meanwhile, the likability of DeWitt's character, who takes a rather dubious second-act turn, has been an issue for some viewers. An Indie Spirit nod may be her best hope.
