2012 Emmy Nominations Winners & Losers
Louis C.K., 'Mad Men,' 'Glee' and Hugh Laurie all made the cut
Winner: 'Homeland'
Because "American Horror Story" is pretending to be a movie/miniseries, Showtime gets to pretend that "Homeland" is the year's most nominated new series, with nine nods including stars Claire Danes and Damian Lewis. "Homeland" did well enough to help Showtime narrowly increase its overall Emmy nomination haul to 22 despite nomination declines from "Dexter" and "The Big C." And as well as "Homeland" did, it could have done even better. "Downton Abbey" and "Breaking Bad" gobbled up so many supporting nods that there was no room for Mandy Patinkin and Morena Baccarin. Maybe next year?
